Knitting Away

I was a knitting fool this weekend. Here's my grandmother's Christmas gift shawl (one ball of Rowan's cotton glace down/three to go).

The only thing my husband will allow me to knit for him (no, not even a scarf) are socks. This is my first attempt at a boot sock, as well as my first ever pair of socks for him. I have my doubts about this. It's a great pattern and I'm using Plymouth fiber, but Mohamed has "chicken ankles" aka the skinniest/boniest ankles you have ever seen. Add to that the fact that I have no clue how to "shape" socks to fit an individual. I'm a boilerplate sock knitter (size 6, 7 or 8?). Hmmmmmm, we'll see....

Blue Moon Fiber/Socks That Rock in the Rolling Stone Colorway. This is the "Lucky Sister" pattern I found online and at long last, I have finally cast on this gorgeous wool. Believe me, my camera doesn't do it justice.

And finally, two pounds (woohoo!) of this Copper Moose roving is on it's way to me compliments of my sister. Thank you Denise!

Happy Knitting/Spinning everyone!

Can I call him Mo ? Anyhow could you knit elastic into the cuffs ? I must say that is very good going with one ball of cotton glace and it's a lovely colour too. I'm guessing the purple sock is for your husband ?

Angie, Everyone calls him Mo so please feel free. The problem with his socks is that the ankle is too large; I need it to go smaller.

I'm really enjoying the cotton glace. I got up to 139 stitches across the top with only one ball.

Yes, the big sock (which does look purple in the photo) is for the hubby.

knit the leg in ribbing. that'll help a lot. If he were a girl I'd help you find all kinds of pretty stretchy lace patterns but for Mohamed, go with ribbing :)

the shawl is gorgeous!! can't wait to see it all finished.

LOVE the STR Lucky sister socks!! I need to order some more... (the problem is picking the color!)

Oh that Roving is gorgeous!!! I can't wait to see it all spun up. and two pounds is a great amount!!

Those socks are going to be just perfect for 'Mr.Mo'..now you have me curious to see those chicken legs..giggles, ...and I love the pattern for the STR...I've not used mine yet either..it's not a mindless knit and that's about all I've been able to handle..Huge hugs..Love you!

Dana, the shawl is looking so very beautiful! I'm so proud of you! (yep, here we go with yet another 'Queen' of...) and I'm loving the mansock. If it's not purple...what colour is it?
