Weekend SEX

Stash-Enrichment-eXpedition(s).
(The title got your attention though, didn't it???)

I had a very busy, fiber-filled weekend. I'm sorry to say that one of our local LYSs', Tapestry, is permanently closing its doors at the end of this month. I visited Evie, the owner, on Friday and while I'm happy for her that she's retiring, I'm selfishly sad also. Evie's always carried very nice British woolens and Manos del Uruguay in every color. While at her shop, I couldn't resist the following:

Two beautiful skeins of Manos del Uruguay (a rust and a burgundy color), a Cascade tweed, a Donegal tweed and several balls of Rowan cotton glace.

These beauties are going to be Christmas socks. The sage-colored cotton glace will be a shawl (I hope I can do it) and the Manos is part of the "bowl-a-polooza" I've been knitting up lately.

The second expedition was Customer Appreciation Day at Yarn Theory. Jan outdid herself with finger foods, a spinning demonstration and just creating a really warm atmosphere. While there, I found these two shawl patterns. They're beautful and they're scary. :)

Flower Basket & Leaf Lace, both by Evelyn Clark/Fibertrends.

Happy Knitting all!

Mmmmmmm, yummy yarns you picked up this weekend!
Oh sure, I see it coming now...first there's Queen of Clogs, next Bowls, I KNOW you'll be a Queen of Socks but.....yes, I see it coming...Queen of Lace.

I really love Ms. Clark's shawl designs. Do the Swallowtail!

(Don't worry a bit, it's not that hard, and only fiddly for just a couple of minutes, don't be a scaredy-cat, you will do great!)

Queen of Lace...uh uh..no way! :) The cotton glace is as fine a weight as I'll go. I do have the Swallowtail pattern and it's gorgeous.

Chart-based knitting is going to be very challenging for this old mule. I actually like the strung out instructions, e.g. "K45,P18,SSK." LOL

Some beautiful fiber Dana..you always find the prettiest colors.
My gosh Woman, are you mass producing those bowls now..I'm 'bowled over'..at your talent!
You will master this lace thing..don't be afraid..Marianne will take your hand very gently and lead you through...then you can teach me..lol
I think your title should be Queen of All Fiber Goodness~~ Happy Knitting!!

Look at all those bowls!

The shawl patterns are beautiful; I can't wait to see which you choose to knit.

It's sad that your LYS is closing; I'd be in mourning if mine closed!

Trust me people...I'm not the queen of anything. Remember Jack Nicholson in "As Good As It Gets"? That's me...OCD all the way; I latch onto a project and basically strangle myself with it. LOL (P.S. Bowls, not chickens, will be the Xmas presents of 2007).

It makes me sad that we're losing one of the few yarns shops we have in this part of VA. Looks like you bought some great yarn though!

Sorry to hear the yarn shop is closing. I never had a chance to go. Nice yarn, though!

Wonderful yarns Dana , lovely autumnal colours. Those lace shawl patterns would scare me ! I am much better at fair-isle , lace terrifies me !

Lace scares me too Angie. What's great about these patterns are they they come in adjustable sizes, e.g. Size 8 needle, worsted weight, 400 yds. As far as I'm concerned, there's no fiber finer than fingering. ;)

Don't let the patterns scare you, Dana! You whip them into shape and show them who's boss! And then post pictures. = )

Hi Dana
Thanks for stopping by my blog and commenting. I am glad to find another knitter nearby - when I am at the lake that is. Gosh I love that place. Pout when I can't go. I envy you living nearby. That is my dream.

I am so sorry to hear about Tapestry closing. I loved to go there. A group of us went when we were up for Spring Fiber in April. I would have found the time to stop by Memorial Weekend had I known. :( I guess she is closed by now. So sad. She was only about 10 minutes from our camper. Looks like I will have to go to Bedford or Roanoke now.

Gonna go now and add you to my Bloglines.
